House of Restoration

Locally, House of Restoration has been busy both in Box Hill and in Braybrook.  From office revamps to Family Night, computer courses to collecting resources, there's never a dull moment in the life of HR. To find out what's been happening, click on the link below.

House of Restoration has continued to offer free computer courses in Box Hill and Braybrook.  We recently heard from a student who completed the Certificate II in Information Technology last year, saying that she now has a full time office job.

The sound of a lone didgeridoo, guitars, choirs and hip hop artists filled the auditorium of the Monash Christian Church in Mulgrave to kick-off the first Annual LINC Fundraising Concert. Highlights included performances by D’Light, the Joyful Noise Choir, Jess Hammond and local break dancers. Arieta accompanied by Elsa Campbell, performed their new song ‘Unity’ for the first time, written especially for the occasion.

Shining Light’s next destination is Mt Hagen, Papua New Guinea! HR has taken steps to establish a base in PNG with a vision to bring restoration to family life and to help transform communities for the better. Shining Light has got on board with this vision and has begun the process of collecting resources to send to PNG with our focus being on schools and “settlement” areas.

One of the HR staff was recently invited to visit Papua New Guinea to share about the work of HR in Melbourne and the vision behind what we do. He was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response he received from local churches and individuals, who confessed that their communities are in need of a fresh approach to combating violence and poverty and improving quality of life.

Sweat dripping, kids singing and dancing, beautiful bush vistas. These are just three of the things the team from House of Restoration had the privilege of experiencing on their visit to Wadeye (Port Keats) during the last week of November.
