In Box Hill we are coming into the last weeks of the Certificate IV in Information Technology course with 5 students about to complete the program. We have also been able to assist students with supplies from our food relief program which is distributed every fortnight as well as fresh bread which is distributed weekly.
The Information Technology courses this year have been a great opportunity to build relationships with people in the community, which are continually being built upon even now. We have had dinners where we have been able to taste traditional Eritrean coffee and enjoying amazing homemade pizza.
Funding has been available under the Australian Productivity Placement Program (PPP) to run this course for people within the community. Due to the change in government funding, this will be the final course we will be running in Information Techonology.
House of Restoration has been offering free courses in Certificate III Information Technology for over 2 years and the final class concluded with two students receiving their certificates. One student is now using the knowledge acquired from the computer course to continue her studies. She is now studying Certificate IV in in Aged Care, using her new skills in information technology to complete her assessments. |
