Team from Wadeye visits HR Melbourne |
A team of young men from the Indigenous community of Wadeye in the Norththern Territory came to Melbourne to promote their band and share about the needs of the people up in their end of the country. The HR family enjoyed their company at our Thames St house as we played volleyball, joined in with a Wadeye-style sing-a-long and tucked into a good old Aussie barbecue.

Using an ironing board as a keyboard stand and a vacuum cleaner pipe as a didgeridoo we managed to find some rhythm and learn some new songs! The band were on a 3 week adventure around Victoria to raise support for the ministry of Roger and Viv Latham who work and serve in Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. On their last day in Melbourne (Australia Day) they performed at the Share the Spirit Festival at Treasury Gardens, where they were a real hit and even got asked to perform an encore! For more info about their trip or the work they are involved in call Lyndal 0412 039 894 or email contact us through this website.
