Another year, another list of achievements. I never thought that I would be sticking around for this long but it has been 7 years now living and growing with House of Restoration along with the experiences, witnessing amazing life changes and inspired to be a blessing and help those around me.
In that case my life has changed alongside with many others, with a dysfunctional family background, being a troublesome adolescent and thinking that drugs and alcohol was the answer for me, I can say I have come a long way from what I used to be. The first couple of years was tough but I ended up finishing VCE in 2006 then took the year off in 2007 to work and gain more qualifications needed to enter the Legal field. So I took a traineeship for 12 months at the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board working with the Employment Services & Payroll department which granted me a Certificate 3 in Business Administration. Having just finished the traineeship this year in April 2008, I applied for a part time course to study 'Justice and Legal' at RMIT Uni deferring it until the start of 2009. In the mean time my partner and I are waiting for the arrival of our beautiful unborn son and start a little family of our own.
All this would have not been achieved had I not had the experiences and learnt lessons about life in HR. This organisation has come a long way, developing and coming up with more ways to assist our community. I have seen miracles happen whilst living and growing with this organisation and one of those miracles is me. I never would have thought that I could achieve what I have but the mentors, role models and assistance that I have gained through HR has helped me along the way.
If there is one thing I have learnt it’s that "the impossible is possible".
