Before I came to HR I was pretty frustrated concerning church communities. The reason was that you had to function like they wanted you to otherwise you weren't accepted. In addition, the church I was going to had many members and it was therefore hard to get to know new people. So I went to church Sunday by Sunday just to fulfil the "law" of going to church. Church was an institution for me but not a community of believers. Of course, I was in a Bible study group, but besides meeting every Wednesday everyone is so busy with himself that he looses focus on the most important thing. It was more like running a program rather than fellowship. In short: I was missing something.
During my two months at HR I found it. I was always deeply moved and encouraged by the honest testimonies of others. To me it seemed that they really live like the church community the Bible describes in Acts 2. They have an honest interest in each other, share things openly and accept each other. What encouraged me the most, though, was that everyone was glowing inside, they had hope and joy in life, although they don't necessarily live the "happy life" today's society teaches us. So, by meeting with HR I got to know that what the Bible says about fellowship is really true, I felt accepted and encouraged to be the person God wants me to be. Thank you everyone!!! |
