The sound of a lone didgeridoo, guitars, choirs and hip hop artists filled the auditorium of the Monash Christian Church in Mulgrave to kick-off the first Annual LINC Fundraising Concert. Highlights included performances by D’Light, the Joyful Noise Choir, Jess Hammond and local break dancers. Arieta accompanied by Elsa Campbell, performed their new song ‘Unity’ for the first time, written especially for the occasion.

The building was filled to overflowing and there was even a surprise performance by Sarah Latham from the Wadeye Community where The LINC team are heading to next month!

A stunning piece of artwork by Indigenous artist Safina Walsh was auctioned off to raise money for LINC. The winning bid was $1105! The didgeridoo was also donated and is for sale for $400 or nearest offer. The overall amount raised from tickets, food, drink, extra donations and t-shirts, as well as the painting, was $3638. With the sale of the didgeridoo, we’ll be able to hit the $4000 mark!

People from all over Victoria were able to meet and share their passion for the purpose of LINC; to connect Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians.

Proceeds from the night will go to fund the continued work of LINC, and notably, an upcoming trip to the Northern Territory next month. Nine members of ‘House of Restoration’ will travel to Woolaning Homeland Christian College and Wadeye, isolated Indigenous communities, for ten days of outreach, dance workshops, tutoring and fellowship with the local youth. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the night and all who attended to made it such a success!
