Container Arrives at Tailevu North College |

 Heavy rain beat down on the windscreen as we drove carefully up the flooded driveway to Tailevu North College. As we drew closer to the school building the sound of screaming students penetrated our eardrums. The car came to a stop outside the main office building where hundreds of students were standing, jumping and yelling at the top of their voices. They were gathered all around the building and up on the balcony holding hand-made signs of thanks and gratitude.

 Last week the container was packed with books, stationery, hardware, computers, office equipment, tools and furniture. We had more than enough to fill the 20 foot container, which is now somewhere in the Pacific Ocean between Australia and Fiji.

During the last year we have met many people from all different walks of life. Early last year while we were out on the streets we met a young man involved in prostitution, desperately wanting a different life. We were able to assist him in the issues surrounding his work and gender dysphoria, help him find alternative work and bring him into a supportive family environment at HR. During this time, he was also able to make contact with his biological family and mend the broken relationships they had. |

Shining Light Prepares To Send Container To Fiji |

 In the past 4 months, Shining Light has been busy collecting resources to send to Tailevu North College in Fiji. We have received donations of library books, class set text books, computers, stationery, home economics equipment, furniture, printers, photocopiers and clothing.

 The D'Light crew enjoyed a lovely 3 course dinner compliments of Carol Carr and her wonderful chef friend Elena.The food was exquisite and the company was divine, but this do wasn’t just about dressing up and having a good time.
