Over the past 6 months Shining Light has been working towards sending a second container to the Tailevu district on Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. During our first trip in March we had the opportunity to assess the needs of the school, and have now collected and packed enough resources to send another container.
Many schools, businesses and individuals have taken the time to collect resources for the Tailevu community. The materials include chairs, tables, microscopes, stationery, hurdles and other equipment.
On the 1st of November a 20ft container was packed at the Murray Carr Removals warehouse with the help of individuals from House of Restoration, Murray Carr Removals and from the Work for the Dole program.
The container will leave Australia on the 9th of November and will arrive in Fiji on the 18th. The container will then be taken to Tailevu North College and the contents distributed to the various departments within the school. Some supplies will also be given to surrounding primary schools. Two people from the Shining Light team will be heading over to Fiji to help with the new equipment and also to see the progress the school has made since the first container was sent. Thank you to all of the individuals who have contributed to this project.
